Age is just a number for this 80 year old


He may have just celebrated his 80th birthday, but Pat McDonald has no intention of quitting work.

Pat works full-time here at Pratt and Gelsthorpe Limited, for the past 16 years.

He is hoping to be there for many years to come, despite being well past retirement age. He has never taken a day off sick over the past few years and continues to work full-time, 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Richard Gelsthorpe, Pratt & Gelsthorpe owner said: “We have other people working here past their retirement age, but to achieve the milestone of 80, Pat is the one. He thrives on working, he likes his routine and it's rewarding that someone wants to carry on working here when they don’t have to."

“Pat is a character, and it's a pleasure to have him around, all the customers know him and they like to see him.”

Newark Golf Club raises £3,000 for Beaumond House Hospice Care thanks to Pratt & Gelsthorpe charity day

Richard Gelsthorpe, managing director of Pratt & Gelsthorpe, who sponsored the challenge, said: “As soon as I knew it was an event raising money for Beaumond House I agreed to sponsor it.
“We have been involved with them over a few years in various fundraising events, including a big draw to win a new car.
“It is such an obvious choice when it comes to supporting a charity on our door step, especially when they do such a great job.”

Highly Rated retailers are those who have delivered the best customer service on our platform, and established a strong brand reputation based on trust and transparency with their customers.

To win a Highly Rated award, retailers need to consistently hit three core criteria:

• their reviews rating – which needs to be four stars or above

• the number of real reviews they have – which will be based on the size of their forecourt

• how they reply to negative reviews – just in case you need a bit more support

This criteria is reviewed over a full 12 month period to ensure our winners have consistently delivered this standard for the full year. If they’ve won an award, it’s because they really care about their customers feedback.

If you see the Highly Rated logo on an Auto Trader advert or visit a dealership displaying the Highly Rated logo, you’re can trust that these retailers have had plenty of positive reviews from their actual customers, and have consistently provided solid customer service.

How are Highly Rated retailers chosen?

It all comes down to what the customer thinks. To be in the running for a Highly Rated award, any retailer needs a number of real reviews that is proportional to the size of their forecourt.

Every retailer will need to hold an average review rating of four stars or above on Auto Trader's marketplace. It’s a high bar, but they put the work in to get there and deliver you a great level of customer service.

We know things don’t always go to plan, so if a retailer does get a one- or two-star review, they’ll need 100% response rate. That way you know that the retailer will work with you to fix any issues you might face along the way.

The data is rigorously checked and endorsed by Autotrader, meaning we are confident in the awards we give out and we want you to have confidence and trust in that process too.

By prioritising customer satisfaction, these retailers stand out in a highly competitive market by ensuring their car buyers have a positive and painless experience.
